>Yuck! That looks nasty Steve. Reminds me of when I dropped a scrub blade on my leg. You're "lucky" you didn't gash your wrist open, you could've lost a lot of blood quickly. It must have bled bad enough as it is. Hope you heal quickly.

He used to tell the ladies that it was a shark bite. (Wanna see my shark bite scar?....)

The return of chain mail!

Mark Harrison -- in Sydney, Australia

>Some ideas are so good they never seem to go away :-)

OT, I suppose, but does anyone know ehen chain mail first appeared? I have this vague recollection of someone saying the Normans were the first but I find that hard to believe.

Safety question

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>Steve,

Do you wear your ring when you're working? If so, I recommend strongly that you remove it - I haven't worn mine at home (so I don't forget and leave it on when I start doing physical work) ever since I read a casual reference by a physician to the term used for what can happen to the skin and flesh of a finger when the ring gets caught in machinery - it's called "degloving."

Bill, who still gets queasy when he thinks about it
