My spoon ,approx.1 1/2 hrs.

>Well,I stopped procrastinating and made a spoon.I used a piece of cherry sapwood that was a sticking in a pile of cherry boards I got.It had a spoon shape already in it.All I had to do was remove all the non spoon parts. The bowl is a knot.
I used a couple gouges to hollow the bowl out(I approximated a pancake's worth)I didn't want to get the wood wet so I didn't test it for fit with real batter. Then I sawed to depth what I had to remove and used a drawknife to remove the bulk. Then using rasps and shaves I removed all the rest of the non spoon stuff.
I was 45 minutes into this and I was having too much fun so I stopped timing it and took my time finishing it.I knew if I rushed I was going to be unhappy with the finished product. So about 45 min later I scraped it smooth and had a perfectly serviceable chili spoon.(I don't eat pancakes)
This challenge was a real good idea.I never would have attempted to make a spoon otherwise.I like it. I wonder how many more are in the same position.
The piece of rough wood in the picture is what is left of the board.
