My first thought was that it was a re-badged product sold by Blish-Mize out of Atchison, Kansas. They started in 1871 as Blish-Mize & Silliman and changed to the Blish-Mize name somewhere around WWII. Around that time they changed their logo to two stars.
Another possiblility is that it came from the old W.A.L Thompson Hardware here in Topeka. From 1876 until the early 1900's, they were the largest retailer in the Midwest and didn't go out of business until 1956. I have an pre 1896 Disston #7 that was etched for them but they used the name Capital City Hardware and WAL Thompson on a scroll rather than a star.
