Adam--Woodwork Magazine?

Kevin Adams

>Adam--

Don't know if you get or can get a copy of Woodwork (June issue), but there's a good article on "Peter Follansbee, Master Joiner in the 17th Century Tradition." Great photos of old tools (I believe the type you use), working green wood, pole lathes, etc. I haven't finished reading it yet, but there's even a spot about Peter's connection with John Alexander of "Make a Chair From A Tree" fame.

Anyway, thought you'd enjoy the article. "Woodwork" tends to show a fairly broad range of work and people often note the "artsy" nature of much of the content; but they do offer some good "traditional" craftspeople from time-to-time.

Take care,

Kevin

>Adam and Kevin,

I just finished reading the article about Follensbee and I found it really very informative and useful. You are right, I wish "Woodwork" magazine had more of these kind of articles on this subject of early woodworking techniques. It's an eye opener to those who aren't familiar with green woodworking, etc. Makes me want to go out and rive some oak for a joint stool I made detailed drawings of. I saw the original at the Albany (NY) museum and took lots of pictures. A real pretty piece that's just aching to be made using all the techniques talked about in the article. If anyone's interested, I could scan the drawings and photos.

Not to hijack this thread, but Adam, are you going to the CRAFTS auction on April 16th? Some of us might want to do the breakfast "route" we've done in the past. You up for it? Any one else?

John

Count me in!

>Count me in, John. Its always nice to neet up with the upstanding woodworkers of the Delaware Valley. But I don't know about breakfast. I really wanted to place a bid on that fancy infill that one guy got at the woodworking show. I thought it was cool cause it had this leaf on the front, and I need a low angle plane.

See you there.

>Last couple of years we met in the parking lot during the tailgating and went to breakfast before the Auction. I am especially looking forward to CRAFTS this year since work prevented me from attending the PATINA event. See all of there!
