>are these things any good? worth about the same as any other off brand? There is a bunch at my next wednesday auction tonights is kinda so so. I picked up a couple goodies at a garage sale today a 51 spokwe shave PS & W 3/4" gouge minus the handle and a fence, depth stop and rod for a 78. all whired together nice and neat but no plane?

>Their chisels used to have a good rep, but I get the impression the reputation has fallen off in recent years. Planes, I know nothing of. From the catalog photos I've seen, they look like any other Bailey clone.

>I have a #4 and the only problem with it was that the mouth was wide from the factory, but other than that the fit and finish was pretty good, it is a pretty thick casting (compared to my Record SS) and has lots of weight. There is a little more backlash than my Record, but nothing you couldn't live with. If I found another at a good price with a smaller mouth I'd pick it up. Mine was one that came with Hardwood tote and knob, I've noticed the new ones seem to come with plastic now.
