>Here's some stuff recently won at local auctions. The side bead is one I can't identify as to maker. It says 3/8 on the heel and has J. B. Stickney stamped into the toe and heel.

>And here's a closer look at the side bead. It's fully boxed. It almost looks "craftsman made"?

>I am sure if the name is stamped on the toe and the heel it is the name of a prior owner and not the maker. If it is stamped as to size on the heel and has boxing I would think that would be VERY unusual to see on a craftsman made plane....Probably a factory plane that was never marked or that the mark is to faint to see.Look at the front stamp close to see if it isn't over the makers stamp. You see this alot....Todd

>I've looked as close as my weak eyes can look and couldn't make out any maker's mark. The only reason I'm thinking the plane was made is because the boxing isn't "keyed" in. It's just slid into a straight groove and is shaped in the profile of the cutter. Isn't the boxing on most fully boxed molding planes keyed in with a dovetail or something?
Yes, the tool on the lower right is a saw wrest. The other saw set in the picture is a Leach's Pat'd .Jan.19.1869 Boston Mass".The patent number is #85,941. The screw arm plow in the picture is a Sandusky No. 119 with the right hand contoured handle, fruitwood screws and nuts. I found a set of cutters on our favorite online auction site.
Thanks for looking, Mike G.
