First, seemingly simple questions don't necessarily get simple answers, at least not always the right ones. Second, everyone's situation is different.
There is certainly a lot to be said about using tools that make you happy, and I think you are right, using the LV MSP will probably make you happy every time you use it. So far, every LV plane I have used gives me that feeling of confidence. I can say the same for all of my L-N tools. I get that feeling from a lot of the tools I've built for myself, but only from some of my Stanley planes. OTOH, I really dislike working with tools that I have to fight every step of the way to get the results I demand of myself and of my tools.
Choosing a tool that was designed to do the precise job you need to do is not as important as choosing a tool that does what it does very well, as long as you understand what it will do all by itself, and what additional things you can make it do, because you have the skills and understanding of the wood and the tool.
The MSP is an excellent tool. I wish I could afford every excellent tool that is out there. I sometimes wonder whether I could really afford all the excellent tools I have already bought. I also sometimes wonder whether I am being stingy, and denying myself tools I really need and deserve, just because I have something else that I can manage to force to get the job done.
