>Found this piece in the dump today. I haven't figured out what it is. It must be something for winding spools.(?)

I this 1st pic the "Locked down mode the tenion is put on the spoon and the nib in the back acts as a brake on the wheel is in the off positions.

>You people suck you get this stuff free. I think they are loom clamps not positive though. The wheel makes me think of somthing to go with the hay trolley for getting hey up in the loft. Just a WAG. I had to beat the bushes to get two chisels and a cigar box of hat pins today.

>14" long, 7/8" d. Good idea but already have good bench vises. I think they hang over the bench and be used. They are a bit ackward to use, but I can get a fair amount of pressure out of them.

>Certainly looks like a bobbin winder from an older (say 1950's) industrial sewing machine. The lever system engaged the wheel with the leather drive belt and automatically disengaged when the bobbin was full. Its very similar to the one on my dad's old Singer.
