>Last weekend I went down to take my 94 YO Grandfather out of the house for the first time in a several months while we had some good weather. While out I saw what looked like a good sized burl from across the creek. I'd hoped it might be walnut, but I couldn't tell from where I was.
I spent the day with him again today and while he took a nap I slipped out to take a look. Found out it was a cottonwood burl. Hard to get a good estimate as it was 10 feet up, but I think it was about 10"x18"x24". Anyone ever use any cottonwood burl? How does it work?
Also, in the old farm house that is starting to fall down is one of those old wood cook stoves that has what I think is white and pale green enamel on it. Id been thinking I needed to try and get it out for quite some time, but today I see where on one door someone must have shot it with a pellet gun and broken part of the enamel. Anyone know if the enamel can be repaired? I thought it might be nice to give it to my mother for Mothers Day. It would go well with my great grandmother's kitchen "cabinet".
