Ohio Tool Collectors Meeting - Great!

Nemo Tools

>Just got back from the Ohio Tool Collectors Meeting in lovely downtown Pickerington, Ohio. Met up with a bunch of great guys, including Jim Crammond, who posts here occasionaly (Hi Jim, thanks for the heads-up on the Erwin Shaffer book--already got it on order). Scored a good 71 Router with most, well, some of the bells and whistles for cheap as well as a nice user grade Keen Kutter chisel and a caliper. All prices really reasonable. Got good pointers on how to properly use a router, also.

It's funny. Every time I walk into one of these events, the place is full of overweight guys with plaid shirts and grey beards. They all look just like me!

>I dropped by and met Jim as well, sorry no plaid shirt this time. I got a nice 605 bedrock for 50.00 and and 18 starrett rule. I was surprised at how many different tools there were. This is my first time going so I guess I didnt really know what to expect.

>Darn!

I was in Pickerington yesterday and didn't know anything about this. Where I can I find out when these meetings are held?

>Greg,

Ohio Tool Collectors have four meetings a year that move around the state of Ohio. The winter meeting has been in Pickerington for the last four years or so. The best way to find out where the meetings will be is to join the club( I think the annual dues are $15.00), but they are also listed on their website. The website is pretty basic and can be found at:

www.geocities.com/ohio_tool/

I had a good time on Sunday, too. It was nice to meet Jay and Ray and look at some tools. I was satisfied with what I bought, too. I got an Ohio Tool #4 smoother, a Sandusky 1/2" dado plane, a Stanley 42x sawset and, best of all, a Star Tool Co. boxwood marking gage all for $41.00. The thing that is the most fun about these events is meeting and talking to other people that are as interested in hand tools as yourself.
