A Simpleton Raises a Simple Question: Coping Saw

>Howdy All!

Which way do you insert your coping saw blades in a traditional "P" style metal hoop coping saw -- to cut on the push or the pull stroke?

I've managed to confuse myself playing with it until I can't remember which is recommended. I'm using Disston blades I bought about 40 years ago, when the building supply I was working for closed it doors and liquidated stock (got three boxes of 10 paks - looks like they're gonna last me the rest of my life).

TIA

I learned to use it cutting vertically with the handle down, but looking at the top of the work - similar to the way a scroll saw works......
