Can I get a witness!!!

>Early in my foray into hand tools, i.e. the slippery slope, I butchered a number of Blue Chips attemtping to use SS. Seriously convexed the backs.
In an attempt to save the chisels, I purchased a DMT xc/c, thinking it would work faster than the stones and could be used to flatten the stones.
The DMT (220) initially took the middle section down fairly quickly on a 3/4", but then plateaued (no visible progress) while attempting to flatten the rest. {Sides were severely dubbed.}
Remembered some people posted that they believed waterstones cut quicker than diamond stones. Never believed it. But what the heck.
Pulled out my 220 green waterstone, quick lap with the dmt xc (220 grit stated) to flatten. Brought the chisel to flat in no time at all.
In my very amateur estimation, the waterstone cut about 5X's faster than the comparable grit diamond stone. Made a believer out of me. Anybody else have the same experience? Saw it with my own eyes and can't explain it.
Also, own both Lee and Lie-Nielsen on sharpening. Picked up Kirby's book on sharpening with waterstones. For a newbie starting with stones, Kirby, though not as comprehensive as the others, is the best step by step tutorial.

Shocked that something went right with sharpening
