My first handplane

rtutsky

>Here is my first attempt at building a hand plane. After purchasing a Hock iron a while back I finally said it's about time I used it. I wanted a smoother to compliment my Stanley planes and it had to have an adjustable throat. The next picture shows how I accomplished that. The metal sole was epoxied to the bottom of the plane. The woods that I used are hickory, walnut, maple and cocobolo. Thanks for looking and critiques welcome.

Well...

>The plane takes very nice thin shavings from highly figures maple, although because of the large diameter pin and little room for the shavings to go it is a bit of a pain to clean out the shavings. Otherwise, I'm happy with the plane.
