That's just so wrong

>Putting a link up like that is like eating a twinkie at a dieters convention. You know what an auction like that does to the neanderthals around here, especially those that actually have money. Well I'm not taking the bait.......but if anyone from Minnesota is going............Eric;-)

what are the odds?

Tom Sontag - St. Louis

>Having not been an auction goer to date, I wonder how one this size will be in terms of getting deals on user tools. Three days is an awfully long time to sit around to pick up a #8 for less than $40 and similar big savings.

Obviously there will be plenty of collectors or dealers there (like our thread starter?), so that should keep things from being given away too cheaply, right? But then we will see a post from Todd reminding us of his $2 coup from his "regular auction". Is there any way of telling what the odds are for minor league users getting value for their time and money? This one is actually within a days drive.

>If you have not been to a tool auction, this one would be a great one to start with. You never really know what is there, and how much it will sell for. In my experience with small country auctions the prices are usually quite a bit less than ebay but normally not give away prices either. You may not find a $40 #8, but if there is one there that is a little beat up and rusty I would be surprised to see it sell for more than $70. The actual selling price depends a lot on who sees it and wants it and what time it sells. It's a lottery. It will be a 9-1/2 hour drive for me, but I am still planning on being there so far. Plans can change, and I may have to miss a local WC get-together which would be a tragedy, but the thought of all those tools just setting around needing a good home is quite a draw.

>Tom -

I suspect the odds are good - it's the same weekend as the Nashua NH auction (MJDtools.com), so many collectors willl have to make a choice...

The 3 days is also a problem - looks to me that the lots are too small too...given the number of items...
