Re: sharpening

Matt in Boone

>Sharpening system would be tweezers, talcum powder and an old CD as the flat surface for the talcum powder honing compound.

Are you serious?

Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA

>Not saying you full of it or anything like that Matt... Never heard of anybody doing this. Does it work well? I got a bunch of those AOL ones sitting around for skeet shooting

I am full of it though...

Matt in Boone

>I usually use those CD's for coasters. I wonder it they would work as shims for drawers? I can not imagine what you would use that plane for other than a shadow box item or a good luck charm for a serious woodworker that is in to bracelets.

What!!??? No Rabbet Model!!???

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>How can you possibly shave tenon cheeks on your micro-shoji with a plane like that? I suppose you could use it for smoothing table surfaces on dollhouse furniture, or maybe the floors of your N-gauge railway buildings.

Actually........

Skip in Falls Church

>There's someone that has been selling rabbit planes on eBay. No, I didn't misspell rabbet - they're small, nickel-sized (as I recall) metal planes in the shape of a rabbit. Probably not terribly useful - but sorta cute. (I don't let my wife see them, she'd want one just because it's cute.)

>They seem to show up irregularly. As I recall the seller implies at least that they make them. If I run across a listing for another one I'll post a link. After the listing ends - I wouldn't want to interfere with some one getting a cute little plane. :)
