Flea market find this mornin'...pics...

>Howdy everyone,

I finally I found a flea market here with some nice hand tool goodies!!! Up to this one, I've basically seen nothing but junk. Totally rusty no name #5's with broken totes for $60 etc...

This little place had 2 booths packed with nice stuff. This type 3 Bedrock 604C just had to follow me home this mornin'.......

I prolly paid to much but I'm sure I'm not the first to do that. It was $85.

Everything looks correct and original. The jury is still out on the japanning. It almost looks too perfect but I really don't care. This one is not going any where any way. It's all mine and I'm gonna keep it. :o)

Thanks for looking,

Terry

Decent price

>Doubt you get that plane on eBay for less. Not worth much more if the japan has been tampered with, but a decent plane at a fair price.

>I paid 80-85 bucks for a #5 to my door off of ebay with the square ears....So as the other poster said a fair price, maybe better than fair. As you know a #5 are almost a dime a dozen...Dale

If the japan has been replaced, I don't think it is with intent to deceive.

For that to be the case, we have to hypothesise someone buying a #604C, cleaning it, rejapanning it, and then selling it for $85.

There just doesn't seem enough margin to justify the effort. If a dealer hit the "motherlode" of $20 #604C's, I can't see any rejapppaning gettin' done.

So (at worst) it's a hobbyist (that's us!) restoration.
