Salvaged a Whetstone...

Ed

>I broke one of my favorite whetstones in half. :(

I didn't want two smaller ones so I cut a piece of

red oak and glued the stone to it with Gorilla Glue. Then the oak was carefully trimmed to reveal the business edge of the stone.

So far it has held up. The crack on the face is hardly detectable and should be less discernable with use. Epoxy would probably give similiar results.

Pretty clever

>If you had some stones cut from the same batch (ie, same hardness), I'll bet you could use this technique to make a larger stone. Just glue up and flaten the surface. Good idea.

Good save on the stone, hope your buddy wasn't too upset. I think I would of been had it been one of mine, but than again doo-doo happens eh?

>Can you drill into them things? I bought a 2X7 one last week got it home and found it was broke in half and reglued I think I will try and use it as a drawer pull for the bench by drilling a couple holes in the side and epoxing a couple screws in them so I can bolt it to the drawer front. The round one Todd sent me for that is to big for this drawer. Will I ruin a goos concreet drill bit?
