Re: What you grow up with, maybe

>I was born in Ohio, and grew up in the middle of Lighning Alley in central Florida. I've experienced lots of really bad weather, and near misses. I never lost a roof to a tornado or a hurricane, but have seen several go, really close-by. I've lost count of the number of tornados, funnel clouds and water spouts I've seen. I've lost lots of electronics and trees to lightning, but no dogs, cats or family members. The number of bolts close enough that there was no discernable time lag between the flash and the boom must number in the hundreds. The biggest earthquake I've been in was 6.9, in Taipei. So far, I've only been stranded by one flood, but again suffered no property damage. Also, so far no pyroclastic flows, no tsunamis (although I've been on the beaches at Crescent City, Hilo and Patong), no mudslides, no avalanches and no meteorites, either. Remember, "close" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Knock on wood.
