How to learn how to use a card scraper--for newbie

>Morning all,
Well, over a year ago I posted a request for info on how to learn to use a card scraper. I received several personal answers, as well as a number of answers posted on WoodCentral.
Sad to say that most suggestions, although accurate, did not help.
For the past month or so, I've become extremely proficient with a card scraper. And I thought I would post my methods: First buy a card scraper and read all the good info available on how to use it. Become very frustrated at your results and buy a Stanley #80 and try to learn it. Become more frustrated and get a L-N 85, use it out of the box and try to sharpen. Pull the remaining hair on your head out, and kick your bench and go back and try to "fettle" the #80. Buy a LV 112 and use it a bit.
Go back to the card scraper, re-try honing it, and make some beautiful, tiny curlies!
Jeez, some $350.00 later and I finally got it down (don't no one out there get any ideas that I'm going to get rid of my scraper toys! Still got to get used to them!).
In closing, just a sidenote: some of the recent threads have become pretty nasty! Everyone should lighten up a bit! I think we're doing this for enjoyment, Right?
