O/T S-10/ Hang on Gang......

Todd O. Cronkhite Maine Native in FL. Exile :~(

>for another day and I'll let you know the outcome of my hot S-10. It's been at the garage since Monday morning. Went down this morning and the mechanic said he knows what the deal is now, but I'm waiting until it's proven before I say anything. I do that because he changed the fan cluth on Monday and it still got hot, so I'm not taking any chances and putting out any bad dope. I think this info will be useful to other S-10 owners---like Jack for instance.

Sure appreciated all the replies and interest in this problem so I want to be darn sure to let you all know the results.

>Nah, the best solution is to lift the radiator cap and slide a new truck under it ;-)

>I'm on S10 number 2. Bought a 1990 model new, then sold it and got a 2001 new. No major problems with either. The 90 is still running strong. Sometimes I wish I had kept it! Oh well, the 2001 is much snazzier. Still have the 4.3. Shame they quit making them. Not sure what I'll get in around 8 years when its time to replace the 2001. Oh well.

>You got my interest Todd.I learned to live with my cooling problem but if there's a cure I would be very happy.I also have an 87 with a cooling problem but no mystery there, there's a hole in the radiator. Also, that one needs a fuel pump,so until I can find someone willing to yank the gas tank,it collects snow.---Jack

>I had a similar problem with my '84 BMW, sucker ran hot for years, had to turn on the heater to cool it down, mechanic tried everything then attributed it to the gauge. But then there was that pesky heat coming through the dash. I still don't know what caused it, seemed to cure itself after moving to Texas, guess it got bumped around a bit on the trailer.

But it's still running, still a great car, about 190,000 miles on it at this point.
