Japanese Woodworking [W009]

dates & times: 4 Wednesdays

February 16, 23, March 2, 9

6pm 9pm

instructor: Tadao Arimoto

Receive one-on-one instruction as woodworker Tadao Arimoto introduces you to the tools and techniques used in traditional Japanese woodworking. You will become familiar with Japanese hand tools, such as chisels, planes and saws, and learn how to construct different joineries while completing one or more projects.

tuition: $140 (non-members $160)

(includes nonrefundable $25 materials fee)

The society for Contemporary Crafts is in the Strip District. I like the multi-session classes as you get to try out the techniques and think of questions that you would not have in one long class.

I took a couple of turning classes there this fall.

I have no affiliation with the SCC.

If you are in Pittsburgh some time their gallery is full of interesting works. It is also close to the original Primanti Brothers resturant. An experience that should not be missed on a visit to d'burgh.
