I've been sitting on a #4 and a #5c just like this for years now expecting the price to go up someday.
Guess maybe I'd better buff up the unplated parts though.

>Definitely cleaned up; the buyer might be disappointed when they get it. I think the ones with the box often sell for less. I overpaid for a number of items when I was just getting into hand tools, due simply to ignorance. For instance, I went to Lowes and paid $35 for my first "contractor grade" block plane. This summer I found an auction where I picked up 6 or 7 block planes for $5 each, and you can find them much cheaper. My MIL found a Four Square plane in the 5-1/4 size for $1 at a garage sale this year; it wasn't real nice, but is cleaned up and re-jappaned now and looks pretty good for a $1 plane. The older planes in good shape can be hard to find, but not that hard.
