Veritas sharpening Jig, Jig

Can someone repost their pictures or links to the Jigs they have made for their Veritas sharpening Jigs??

I know there must be a better way (or more!) to set the blade in the Jig square and to length than what I am doing.

Thanks

Sherwood

>Sorry I have no picture but, here was my fix. Got a nice piece of Baltic birch plywood about 8" by 5". Glued a strip of wood on one long side, much like a bench hook. Put self-stick ruler strips at both short ends. Drew a series of parallel lines length wise about a half inch apart. Then, glued short strips of wood on those lines. Put the jig up against the bench. Mount the blade in the holder and put the holder up against the jig. Extend the blade to one of the stops and, there you go.

>All I did was set the blade using their angle guide. Then measured it. Transfered the numbers to the jig and cut it down to size. Made 2 for my Ellipse jig also 1 for the top holder @ 25 & 30 deg, and 1 for the lower the same way.

BTW if you put one side on this jig it helps hold everything square and to the proper length if'in your trying to rehab old chisles and plane blades that may not be square to begin with.

Here is the link to the mod I posted to this forum a short while ago. Also note that the distance setting jigs (above) are a viable alternative. I use them as well, but the fence I built into my Veritas guide offers a greater range of angles.

>Doug Nobody mentioned that it's not that critical that you get the iron in straight it's really more important how much finger pressure you use to get the bevel equal. There is a little tutorial on LV website.
