I dunno Bob, I yhaven't posted a link in a long time so I am rusty at it. Thing is that these days I'm a slow learner and a fast forgetter. :~(

as far as pics go, I don't have a clue, but I did list on my wish List to Kris Kringle. We'll see if I've been a good boy this year of not now shan't we.

I think I've been good, or am I getting that confused with not getting caught? ;~)

Re: Design vs. jointery

Sgian Dubh

>Gary I was trying to imply that the double twisted dovetail itself can fall into that category. It's visually puzzling as well as being quite difficult to execute, which can make it expensive.

I try not to use it too often, in part, because of those factors. Using it, and other tricky joinery, can become the whole point of a piece of furniture which may or may not be bad.

I've designed pieces and made pieces for myself and others in the past that were in large part to showcase joinery. I've usually been dissatisfied with the overall end result and try to avoid it now. Hence the description the triumph of (such things as) technique, wood, impracticality and other factors over design. Slainte.

Ha, ha. That's the first I've heard of it Roland. If you find out who did, let me know and I'd be happy to buy him or her a beer---- as long as they bring the crown along with them. Slainte.
