>This is late? I have been sick all week and don't feal much like nuttin. I might cut the trim for the edge of the bar and start glueing it on. I am fealing better but won't push myself. The garage door is still messing up so I may go buy a new one so I can install it some time soon. I think mostly I'll just chill. EVERY ONE HAVE A SAFE AND ROCKIN GOOD WEEKEND!!!!

>Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather, Ernie. Counterbalance springs for lifting garage doors can be very dangerous. If you are not feeling well, physically and mentally, put it off until you are feeling better.

Right now, I'm building some lasagnas for a fund raising dinner this evening. No woodworking for me this weekend. I've got a lot of driving to do, and then packing up an apartment in preparation for a move.

Maybe by next Wednesday, I'll get to do some fun woodworking-oriented stuff, when I get together with the usual suspects in Springfield, VA.

>I managed to park my truck right at the dump. When I left it was about half full of cherry scraps and offcuts that had jumped in the back. Now I finally have enough material to start the reorganization of the shop.

I saw an idea that I like in one of the tools and shops issues of FWW.I plan on making narrow panels that hang on french cleats so I can re-arrange the wall racks as needed and even bring things like chisels to the bench and rehang them close to the work.

I`ve been playing with rack designs using offcuts and have most of the rack systems sorted out.I`ve decided that cherry against a light background is what I`m after. With the new batch of scraps/offcuts it looks like I`m fresh out of excuses.I looked and found I even have enough left over bronze screws to do the job.

It`ll be nice to have at least some of the clutter organized by the end of the weekend.Wish me luck.(now if I hide the toolrest off the lathe and switch off the 220 breakers I might not get distracted).

Mainely,Bob-Who hopes Ernie is feeling better and saves the overhead door project for next weekend.

>I said buy not install! I found that by piling junk infront of the lathe that will need put away last will keep me from trying to turn somthin that I don't need. it is also helpfull incase you find a bunch of tools that need handles to have it inaccrssable untill after the clean up project is finished. Stack clutter all over the bed ways burry the tools behind scraps or stuff that will prevent you from being tempted.

>Hope you get lots of rest... got a cold three weeks back and it hung around like an unwanted guest.

Little shop time this weekend. I plan on grinding a safe edge on a file to start my Shepherd Shoulder kit. I expect to spend about an hour in the shop total, both days.

Means I will have to pick up a bench grinder... do many people use these for sharpening??? Just wondering if I should also drive to LV and pick up a few accessories. Norton wheels, felt wheels etc...

On the DIY/wood front I will be ordering some hardwood flooring.

Have a great one everyone!!!

>If you want something to help with the planemaking and also for sharpening you may want to consider a belt sander instead of a grinder.I think you`ll find it to be much more versatile and easier to work with in both cases.

>Spending Saturday with daughter, visiting for the weekend after starting school in D.C. a few weeks ago. Great to see her again. Seems like the house has come alive again since her arrival last night.

Sunday political campaigning in state Attorney General race.

No woodworking at all, I'm guessing.

Best, Ted

>Going to a meeting for hurricane rebuilding hoping to find a contractor to get SOMETHING started here. Not a thing has been touched here since Charley and time's a wasting. Everyone I tlak to either don't call back or don't show up at all. It is exasperating, esp[ecially because it is holding up a planned addition that we wanted to do while rates were low.

Going to finish up the top cabinets for the local Catholic church office and get ready to install.

Lots of sad contractor stories down here after Andrew in '92.

>Thanks, Don, I've been watching out for that. Turns out the meeting was a waste of time. Only one contractor there and he sells new homes. I'll keep looking.

At least I have some woodworking to do today to take my mind off it.
