RED SOX WIN!!--from ToddO

Ted Owen, Moderator

>ToddO posted a message about the Red Sox victory below, mistakenly as part of the Tormek thread. He asked that I set it apart as its own thread, but I couldn't persuade the admin features to do that successfully. So it's copied-pasted here:

10-3

OT: RED SOX WIN!!--from ToddO

>What, and break 86 years of tradition? So, what will be the response in Boston when Roger Clemens and the Houston Astros contribute to carrying on that tradition?

While I have no love for the NY Yankees, I would have liked to see John Ohlreud (sp) get another championship. Classy guy in an industry which is sometimes lacking.

Steve Kubien - who can remember the Blue Jays wins as though they were only 10+ years ago!

Congrats to the Sox from the defending champs!

Clay C in Miami

>Here's wishing all the New Englanders the joy of their victory. That was an amazing, epic series, richly deserved congratulations to the Red Sox. It should be a looooong time before Johnny Damon has to buy himself a drink (or go dateless on a Saturday night) in Boston!

Now, if only the Cards can pull it out tonight ...

Quickly, now - do you remember who won the Series in 2003? Do you remember who Steve Bartman is?

Clay

(Who can still remember the Marlins' second World Series title as though it was only last year ... OK, so it WAS only last year. But, it's hard now to continue thinking of the Marlins as the 'defending' world champs - once they fell out of it in 2004, it feels like they are no longer 'defending' their title. Although, for some inexplicable reason, I did note a distinct lack of sympathy from Red Sox (or Cubs) fans last year, whenever I expressed any displeasure at ALL about the Marlins and their fans having to endure five [long, painful, sub-.500] seasons between their '97 and '03 Series titles.)

(And, the Marlins can now share with the Sox the superlative joy of beating up on the Yankees! Mmmmm, tastes sweet.)

>Ted,

thanks for getting my post straight. I was so excited last night that I guess I didn't hit the New Message button like I thought I had.

So c'mon, someone tell me what life is like in New England today? I envision Singin', Swayin', Music playin' and Dancin' in the Streets!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh it's soooooo Beautiful, I can see it so clearly!

Who's YOUR Daddy NYY?!! Huh?, Huh, Huh? ;~)

Climate in New England

Roger Myers

>Productivity is doen considerably in most busineses in New England today although this has been more than offset by increased consumption of coffee (to stay awake after an exhausting but exciting week) and water at the water coolers, where every aspect of every game has been replayed many times (much to our delight).

We are proper Bostonians however, so we are not going to sink to the level of other unamed teams fans and gloat about the incredible achievements of our beloved Red Soz. No sir, we are proud, dignified members of Red Sox Nation! We will only focus on the remarkable games between these two storied franchises. We will discuss objectively the spirit, grit, and heart of the Red Sox players as they focused on each pitch, each out, and each game.... We will note with pride the contribution of every one of the 25 players and the managers and coaches...all of whom played a vital role in this history making series.

We will act this way for an appropriate amount of time out of respect for the Yankees and their fans, because that is the right thing to do.

OK - I think it's been long enough....

YES....YES....YES....

WHO'S YOUR DADDY!!!!!!!

Curse? What curse? I don't see no stinking curse!!

:)

Embrace IT, It will set you FREE.

Kevin French, Antrim, NH

>I heard it on a radio show, they had a psychic on. She had found seven out of seven missing people for the FBI, and after she got done telling everyone on the show how long they would live, someone asked her "What about the Red Sox? When Are they going to win the World Series?" She thought and said "I see them winning in 2006." Everyone in the studio cheered. She said "but it's 5 years away!" "No you don't understand. It's in OUR lifetimes."

It works. I've gone with this for two years now. It was on my truck cap.

How can ANYTHING be better today in RSN???

If we won the Series this year, in 50 years from now people will says "04, that was the year the Sox got a reverse sweep of the Evil Empire." It will always be held in the context of this ALCS.

This is as good as it gets, Right now.

From the year the Pats won their first Super Bowl I wear their AFC East Champs hat. Having the start they did and getting to that point was amazing.

GO Sox, Hope I'm wrong, but if I'm not... Red Sox in 2006.

Why do I get the feeling......

Todd O. Cronkhite Native of Maine

>that you want to show me the East River? ;~)

Sorry for your loss, but thanks for your happiness for us.

A bit disappointed in the behavior of some of the Red Sox fans afterwards, and am deeply saddened by the death of the 21 year old college student.

Really mars this happy occasion. :~(
