Using a Ryoba saw...

>One thing that I've always vexing about using these saws is that the kerf is really too small and the saw tends to jam in the kerf. I was so annoyed with this today I tried coating the blade with wax (Liberon lubricating wax in this case but just about anything will do) and this was just so much easier to use.

Try it, I think you will like it.

>The wax trick works for western saws, too. If your Japanese saw is jamming in the kerf, presumably on the non-cutting stroke, try being a little less agressive. Let the weight of the saw dictate the cut and lift up very slightly on the nc stroke. DAMHIKT.

>Thanks Pam. In this case, I was ripping a long thin piece. I think that the binding was more than partly a wood stress thing in this case.

I also like Matti's suggestion with Camelia Oil.
