Tool I.D.

>Found a tool I forgot about having when I cleaned up my shop the other day. It's made by Bridgeport Manufacturing co. It's a wooden handle about 6 inches long with a chuck on the end. When I bought it, it had a chisel in it. I thought it was kind of like a pin vise, but it will only close up so far as to take a piece of tooling with a 1/4" shank. Is this a carving tool handle, perhaps? I don't have a picture of it.

>It may be a tool handle. (not very discriptive name)

See this web site and compare the features...it sounds like they might be the same or similar.

Usually the tools are stored in the handle.JR

>I've got one of those tool handles, plus another one that was for a cobbler with a different type of chuck. The tool I'm describing has a solid wood handle with a drill type chuck.

Thanks, Mike G.

>Thanks Jon, but that's not it.

I need to see if I can get a pic on here. I've got two...well...several pushdrills. This is different. It's got a chuck like a hand drill, but mounted on a wooden handle. The chuck will only tighten up enough to take tooling with a 1/4" diameter shaft. In fact, a chisel was in it when I bought it.
