>We're almost done with the grandkids workbench and so I thought I'd post a pic or two. Just got the stock for the 1 vise screw and so we'll be adding a couple of vises soon.

Used through tenons for the stretchers and secured them with gorilla glue. I used a #7 to flatten the top and finished smoothing with a LN low-angle smoother.

I think I've figured out how to put a leg vise on one side and a twin-screw centered on the other. We'll see........;>)

>Good job Frank,

This is something that the kids will treasure the rest of their lives. I remember doing a little woodwork with my Grandpa. I wish I could have done more with him. It was amazing what he did in such a small shop with such few tools. My most prized tool is his Stanley #4. Unfortunately my sister took the china hutch and dining room table/chairs he built. :(

>The K bodies clamping the trestle are 48" and the ones the boys are using are 24". One of their projects will be making their own smaller clamps with wooden screws.

Right now, after school, they practice hammering nails and making straight saw cuts. They are cutting out practice tenons. I have them cross cut to the tennon line and then instead of ripping along the side of the tenon I let them chisel out some waste.....that's their favorite part! When paring the cheek of a tenon they let out a 'woooooooo' when they saw the shaving curl up.......they're hooked ;>)
