Brace storage...Oh Scott P.

Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA

>Just to get the other Scott up in arms... Here's my new brace holder. It's made of milk painted Obeche (I HATE this wood) and Mahogany with a BLO top coat.

The slotted holders are at a 5 deg. angle to keep them from falling on me during the next big one.

It was all made with handtools excepting the 5 deg dados.

Scott, I needed to finish this and get it in place before I could finish the sawtill. As you can see, theres a hint of it.

Thanks for looking, Scott

>Nice set up Scott. The only critique is too many of them plastic-handled Yankees and not enough Spofford patent Frays. I guess it's just a matter of taste. :-) Regarding the coll&@tor accusations, just chuck a bit into all of them and nobody will be the wiser.

Cheers,

Mike - who will gladly trade a very clean 12" sweep Yankee/Bell System brace for an analogous Spofford patent Fray.

>Minute. Not one of those yankee (except the newer one) has plastic handles. I agree with you on the Frays, I realy like them. I need to fill them out. That will take awhile...

>... my mistake Scott. My aging peepers don't work as well as they used to. I shoulda known you had better taste than that. :-) But my main point stands, i.e. that's a fine looking bit brace rack ya got there.

Cheers,

Corrections...

>On the right the Stanleys are 925's.

The Stanley post/corner drill is a 984.

Sorry for misinforming.

Todd can answer this better...

Scott Burr Ben Lomond,CA

>See how it came from Mrs. Deadhorse to begin with. The Lion chuck was one of the first "hold all" chucks. It can hold all bits, square, round etc. The extra room is for Fray braces. Possibly my eggbeaters too...

>Very nice! It reminds me of Dave Andersons storage work. (I just posted links to his postings for the new fellow from the Wreck)

In the interests of hand tool storage - how did you make the 5-degree dadoes?

Yeah, but...

>Where're the gas springs? They fire the braces at you? Lemme guess - you added a Clapper, and the whole thing's sound activated.

Looks good. Why dontcha like the obeche now?

Been having computer problems or I'd have posted sooner...
