>I was drinking my mornin coffee and turned on the idiot box as usual for diversion. I found a marathon is running on the science channel of shows from the 50s? called Watch Mr. Wizard. They just ran one on adhesives. I learned alot I didn't know from this.Mr. Wizard explained and demonstrated the how and why of adhesives of different kinds to a young girl.Well worth watching. The marathon is still running as I type this so check it out.---Jack

>But so am I :o) And I have the book to prove it ... "Mr Wizard's Science Experiments" The book is filled with (most of) his neato show experiments. It really helped me in my unintentional quest to turn my Mom's hair white.

>While surfing, thumbing away with the remote, I too came across Mr. Wizard. What great shows! I once again marveled at how he made complex ideas easier to understand. No wonder I spent so many happy hours watching him way back then.

I also marveled that Mr. Wizard, aka Don Herbert, is still alive and kicking science. Way back when, he seemed so old--how else could anyone know all he did without years and years of study.

It was great to watch him once more. But it was also sad to be so forcefully reminded of how much the promise of television has been unfulfilled. These days

TV seems bereft of programs such as Mr. Wizard.
