What's doin' in Washington & Oregon

Mitch

>Hello folks,

I'm going on a vacation to Washington and Oregon and wondered if anyone could recommend any not-to-miss woodworking sites. I'm starting in Seattle and driving down to Portland and back over about 12 days.

I'm planning to visit the Northwest Woodworking Studio in Portland. Please let me know about any good tool stores, studios, galleries and woodworkers you'd recommend. Thanks!

Mitch

>NW Fine Woodworking in Pioneer Square area of Seattle is an excellent gallery as well as the Real Mother Goose in Portland. If you like funky but incredible selection, try Hardwicks on Roosevelt in the university district. I think the actual name is Hardwick and Sons.

>If you want to look at some wood try Gilmer Hardwood near downtown Portland - all kinds of cool exotic woods and a few bargains at times too.

>You might also look up Bridge City Tool Works in Portland. I think they will arrange a factory tour if you call ahead. They used to be in same building with NWWS but have moved not far away.

Crosscut Hardwoods in Portland is a nice place to browse around. A full service (and usually full price) wood dealer.

Also, Woodcrafters....a locally owned WW and millwork store not far from NWWS and BCTW.

It is apparently Fall already, so don't forget your raincoat. Just rain, no hurricanes.

>When are you planning to make it out this way? There is a possibility that you could attend a Pacific Northwest Tool Colectors meeting while here. Also there are some dealers and collectors you may be able to visit. Let me know what you time frame is and I'll check the calender. I'll try to think of some other places as well.

>Hi Dave,

I'm heading to Seattle today and will be there Thursday and Friday. Then I'm going to Portland and environs for about 5 days.

I'd love to know about the tool collectors. I'll check my email from the road: mitch_roberson@yahoo.com99999 (take off the 9s)

Thanks!
