Tool Mark

>Last year a bunch of old tools was donated to my woodshop at school. In the lot is a reall nice set of carving chisels, about 20, all the same. They all have this mark on them: A flathead countersunk screw stamped on the shank, then below it, a cursive "m". They also say germany. Anyone know who the maker is?? Anyone know anything about them? They look like they may be hand forged. They a joy to use, I carved a horsehead last year, they are wonderful.

>Charles Taylor chisels have a screw like you described logo on them. Don't know if they were made in Germany or perhaps another company used the screw logo as well..... C. Taylors seem to be OK quality but judging from the real nice gouge i sold on ebay the other week for $10 not in much demand ,[it's Ok I paid .50 cents for it].....Todd

>I think that the German company that used that mark was Dastra. I have never used one, but have read reports by others that they are very good quality.
