>It works very well for chisels with either rounded or other non-flat faces.I use it for all my large framing chisels by Merrill or Underhill(which are rounded)and Douglas(which are beveled to a central ridge.
Just match the bevel angle to the face of the wheel by moving the arm in or out.Be sure to scribe a line on the back for reference.

>Yep,it is.But we WWers have a reputation for inventiveness that we have to uphold.Besides,it comes with a regular flat rest for grinding the run of the mill stuff.
The Vari-grind is the whiz-bang tool that puts the fancy grinds on things like bowl gouges.I`ve used it to put a fingernail grind on one carving chisel so far.

>Agree with you one the inventivness Bob, and that is why I'd make one. they are simple enough and there has been numerous plans on making them in the WW rags. Could save some body a bunch of $$$ to spend on rust.
