>Buggin' out in the morning and hoping we have a roof when we get backa fter the storm. Thought I might as well finish up this drawing table I've been working on. I wanted to show some pictures of the details, but this one will have to do, think I ran out of space on Webshots.

Cheers and See You All after Frances.

Forgot the Details

>Sorry. All qtr sawn white oak ('cept the bottom of the box, which is luaun). Box joints on the corners of the box and a piano hinge allows the top to be set at a comfortable drawing angle. The side of the box forms a tenon that sits in the upright and the upright connects to the base with a tenon; both are pegged wiht 3/4" dowels. Finish is BLO/MS with the top receiving several coats of clear lacquer, whihc was then rubbed out with pumice.

>Nice looking table. Why did you offset the support to the right? To make it fit under your favorite recliner?

Hope you have a house when you get back. All we have had down here is light rain, and winds 15-30 mph.

>The table was made for my boss, who likes to sit in bed and draw or write, so it can slide under the edge of the bed like a hospital tray. Took some doing to make it strong enough, but I think it was successful and will hold together just fine.

Hurricane Frances didn't do too much damage to us here. We came home to find our house pretty much as we left it, except some water along the front wall that was damaged by Charley. Couple more trees are down and some branches; looks like we dodged the bullet this time.

Glad to hear it Mike

>Been wondering how Frances treated your weakened home from Charley.

No damage here other than a good sized fork of my backyard oak tree split off and squashed a few chain link fence rails.

Hope all other Islanders have faired as well.
