Tried to call Mike

>About 30 minutes or so ago I tried to call Mike Fitterling and once again only got a recording that says "The party you are are calling cannot be reached at this time".

About 10 minutes ago I got the tail end of a news report from Lake Wales where he lives. Looks like they got clobbered pretty good.

Does anybody know anybody who lives close to Lake Wales that if given his address might be able to check up on him?

I'm kinda' thinking of driving down myself, but I figure the last thing they need down there right now is any unnessary traffic. Coarse, if Mike could use a hand than it wouldn't be so bad.

The Red Cross has a number set up where folks can call to have them check up on Family. Been thinking of calling it, but hate to tie up the line and prevent somebody from checking up on a lagit family member. On the other hand I do consider him a family member of sorts.

>If Lake Wales was hit like Port Charlotte, it could be some time before phones are back up. I finally heard from family there who were able to get a cell signal near I-75. They were fine, and their house was mostly intact, but with many hundreds of poles down, it was going to be at least a week or two before even power/phone service is restored.

If you have a cell number for Mike or anyone else in the path, the systems will store messages, and wireless service is likely to be more available than landlines for a while. I may be taking some time off to help with the cleanup, but they told me to wait for now--just too much traffic and chaos for the time being, and emergency services were keeping up with immediate needs.
