You bet!

>Obviously you've never witnessed a meeeting of the Possum Lodge! If you can't find it on TV let me know! I'll record a couple of episodes for your enlightenment!

It was Red who inspired me to use Duct Tape as tape when wrapping presents. No one can peek at my presents anymore!

You guys crack me up!

>(Lucky I did not breathe coffee..)

I looked at my puny S-10, (used to have an F-250, sniff..), and the front of the bed does not look very strong. I'll have to poke around, and come up with something I can jury-rig for urban logging. That, and I need to make up a portable SoFla/Tropical tree recognition guide.

When I get my sattelite receiver back from the repair shop, I will have to look for the show. The Red Green Show, right?

>I don't know much about Chevy's small truck technology. I think you are right to be concerned that the box may be easily bent out of shape on many small, lightweight trucks. I wonder if some of them were designed to carry a bbq grill, a cooler and a couple of dogs, or maybe three sheets of plywood and a couple concrete blocks, but no more, and not at the same time. Does that thing have a frame? If so, are there a couple of bolts in the bottom of the bed that attach the front end of the bed to the frame? Could you replace those bolts, or augment them with something you could put a couple of hooks through? I have a friend with an F150 Lariat (extended cab, short box) that he drops a large camper top onto. He has a large, thick steel plate bolted to the front of the box, and I think bolted through into the back of the cab, that he says he needs to add stiffness when hauling the camper. But, I am not an expert, so you should seek help from someone who understands the strengths and weaknesses of your particular vehicle.

If you had a resource like Fazzio's in your neck of the woods, I'm sure you could find sufficient hardware, cheap, to rig up something that would work. If this place were anywhere near Possum Lodge, the bottom would fall out of the Duct Tape market.

Oh, and don't yield to the temptation of a large banyan tree trunk.

Re: Oops, vague *LINK*

>Sorry, Don, I didn't intend my Fazzio's link to be obfuscated. It would have taken you a while to find the appropriate illustration in that vast virtual yard of metal, tools and hardware.

Here's the link to just what you need: Truck Enhancement for Turners. Forget Red Green, Tim Allen, and even Paul Bunyan and Babe. If you can't make it work starting right here, you're going to have to depend on the Wood Boutiques.

Fazios, etc.

>That looks like a great place to have around to fill in those needs that HoDepot cannot.

In all seriousness, I really think I will get a come-along to keep around for when I see a log or three that are more than I could easily wrestle into the back of the (mini) truck.

Thanks again for the idea, and also for pointing out waaay upstream that some of the common trees around here, which I thought were trash, have interesting and/or useful wood.
