block to rabbet plane conversion

shirl

>I saw web page on converting a block plane to a rabbet plane some time back. That was when I didn't think I'd ever need such a thing, so I didn't record the page. Now I want a block rabbet plane but don't really want to spend for a L/N. Can anyone help me locate the web page I'm looking for?

Thanks

>I remember seeing something too, except I think it was a magazine article. As I recall, the main idea was to use a 1-5/8" iron on top of a 1-3/8"-iron plane body, filing down the sides of the plane to provide something for the iron to rest on.

We're going on vacation soon, and time does not permit me to scrounge through my piles of magazines to see if I still have it.

You might try searching Google with the phrase, "block to rabbet plane" or some such, with the usual expectation that you'll spend time wandering through websites on Swedish airplane history and suchlike (no disrespect intended to Swedish aviators, who make some fine fliers).
