Tool Meet

>I posted this once a week or so ago and it didn't take or something. Anyone going to the Midwest Tool Collectors Meet and show in Akron this week? I'm going back to Pennsylvania to visit family and am going to spend a couple days there and thought it might be nice to get together if anyone is going to be there. If nothing else it would be nice to put some faces with names. I'm going to be there Thursday for the tailgating and Friday for open sales. After that over to PA to hang out with family.

Let me know if anyone is planning on attending.

>Dave,

I'm planning on being there Thursday and Friday, also, I'll look out for you.

Usually, a group from the Oldtools list gets to together on Thursday afternoon to share a game of pool, some pizza and a beverage or two. If you don't have any other plans for that day it is usually an interesting time although after getting up at 5 or so for the tailgating, energy levels are not too high.

Looking forward to meeting some Islanders.

>Unfortunately I have a job, so will not get there until late Friday evening, probably around 8, and will be there Saturday. Someday maybe I'll take time off work to get to the tailgating, but should still have plenty of tools to look at Saturday am.

>Thomas,

The meet we are talking about is the Spring meeting of M-WTCA. There is a tailgating session on Thursday, then inside sales on Friday and Saturday morning. There are usually several other functions going on throughout the meeting such as a field trip to local points of interest, several presentations concerning tools or manufacturers, a whats'it session, a banquet and quite a few displays. The Spring meet is normally well attended with up to 650 people including 3-4 hundred people selling tools. The number of tools you see is overwhelming. There will be many high end collectable tools but there are even more user tools at reasonable prices.

Mid-west Tool Collectors is a club, so technically you are supposed to be a member to attend the meet, it is not open to the public like a flea market. But if it is your first time, a member can sponsor you as their guest so it isn't a problem.

There should be more information on the M_WTCA website.
