Weekend Projects

Ernie Miller Topeka

>I missed posting last week what the heck happened? Any way I dont really know what I will do this weekend I need to work on that bar thing for the wife and I need to make the last few drawers for the bench. And yesterday I picked up a box full of parts that I will return to what I think is a treadle lathe. Really sweet 8X32 swing. But then there is the honey do list my hair is to the middle of my back and that is twice as long as the wives so I need to get a trim and I also need to take her out for some sort of entertainment? Im betting I get zippo done EVERY ONE PLAY SAFE AND HAVE A ROCKIN GOOD WEEKEND!!!

>Gotta finish the patio table for the back porch. Pretty basic design made out of red cedar, but I want to get a bit of T&T oil-varnish finish on it before I subject it to the great urban outdoors. Fortunately, my wife (who commissioned the thing) is away for few days so there is no actual pressure if the weather ends up being too nice for working

>Hoping to finish roughing out the chaise lounge I'm building for out by the pool and get to final fitting and assembly. Might be a bit ambitious given the time I'll be alloted but.........

>Hurry up and get that bar finished Ernie so you can have a kegger!

My weekend will be spent finishing up my mess from landscaping and gardening outside.

The wood related content is that I plan on doing some decking as we have quite a few boards that need to be replaced. The Previous owner couldn't have picked a worse design as the decking in a few select areas needs to be changed to prevent rotting.

On Sunday I'm heading to a Pergola Party to welcome some new people to the neighbourhood. (Not even a year at our new place and we are already the grizzly veterans welcoming the newbies!)

Of course I'll also have to check out some garage sales tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Brad

totes

Jack Guzman from Maine

>I was so encouraged by the success of my attempt at a red oak tote that I made another of rosewood.I didn't get it as smooth as I would have liked because I started to itch.Don't know if it's psychosomatic from reading about wood reactions but I don't want to push it.It's too pretty a wood not to be able to work with.

So I started my third and final tote from cherry last night, bored the hole off center, ruining a nice piece of figured cherry,so---to make this looong story short; I'm going to start from scratch and make a cherry tote, and then see what new project catches my fancy.Have fun ---Crackerjack

>Finish shaping the last runs of porch railing and painting them, and doing some patching on the stair treads. Installation soon!

Maybe some shop cleanup time, too; it's a wreck.
