OT: Tools we hope you don't need.... *LINK*

Rob Lee

>Hi -

Was a replying to email just a few minutes ago, and had the occaision to visit the Canica Design website. It's been redone since I last saw it...

This is where the Sr. "Lee" spends his time now that he doesn't drive into Ottawa daily...

If you're squeamish - don't look!

It's not really all that off-topic, as it is about cutting and clamping. Canica Design is also located in a building that used to be "Lee Hardware" (no relation).

There's an interesting article under the "News" section, entitled "The Red Green Show meets ER"...

Cheers -

>There are some pretty neat tools and techniques there Rob. Is your Dad somehow involved with the designs? By the way, it didn't gross me out, I worked in a hospital emergency room as an aide while I was in college. Weekends in the inner city were refered to as the "knife and gun club". I saw worse wounds from traffic accidents than I ever saw in combat in vietnam.

WOW and Another application?

Paul Kramer-SW-IN

>Rob,

All of those instruments are very cool. I especially like the scalpel. The handle, the quick release -- beautiful. Another potential use to pass on to your dad's designers/sales folks are for pediatric surgeons who face trying to close the abdomen of a newborn who's born with part of their abdominal contents on the outside. That CHESS system might be a wonder for them.

Re: WOW and Another application?

Rob Lee

>Hi Paul -

Yes - there are a number of areas of applicability for the systems. The main thrust of Canica's activity right now is to build up enough case studies and data to be accepted as a "standard" treatment.

What's really cool about developing these types of products, is that they have a tremendous impact on people's quality of life...

Yes - this is his "retirement" company (along with Algrove Publishing)...

He hasn't really changed his hours of work - just where he parks in the morning... :)
