>I can sharpen a scraper very well in the "traditional manner" using an ordinary burnisher, the back of a gouge or what not. However, I bought one of these gadgets at a show about six months ago where it was on offer at a reduced price and I figured that even if it was snake oil, I couldn't go very far wrong.
I have to say, this is a TRULY EXCELLENT tool that does exactly what it claims. It puts a great burr on a scraper in the blink of an eye and whereas I used to use about six scrapers at a time then go and sharpen the lot, I now just use one scarper at a time and have this tool in my pocket. I can sharpen a dull scraper and carry on working without missing a beat.
It is very useful for hard-to-sharpen profiles as well like goosenecks or some special profiles I make for scraping mouldings
