>Hi all,

the slope is getting more slippery and I want to try my hand a sharpening handsaws. I'm trying to get the Tom Law video in PAL format for Australian video players not NTS format.

Does anyone have a link to suppliers or even better, the source of this video?

regards,

Andrew

While you're there, do yourself a favor and get John Alexander's "Make a Chair from a Tree" and Tom Herrli's "Classic Plane Making" too. Whether you want to do this stuff or not, these are first class woodworking courses, with many techniques that can be applied to projects other than what's being demonstrated. Anatol is a magician when it comes to making high-density, clear how-to videos.

>Hi Andrew

I have the Tom Law video and it is no trouble to play on a PAL system as long as you have a recent vintage TV and videoplayer. Over the past 5 or 6 years or so all PAL units have incorporated the componentry to play USA videos.

I have enjoyed Tom's video and find it essential viewing for a novice sharpener, into which camp I place myself. My feeling, however, is that it does not go far enough. It really could benefit from explaining technique more. There are clearly practical areas that come from experience that someone such as Tom just takes for granted. I think I need a "Sharpening for Dummies" version! That said, let me reiterate that it is a good video and worth having. I'm sure that I will learn more every time I re-visit it.

Regards from Perth
