Looking good Jim...

>Hinges tend to mess with my head too. Keep up the good work!
And the frame

>Here is a shot of the frame. I just finished dovetailing and assembling the birdseye maple drawer. This shot shows the wooden hinge I devised to support the leaf.
Question
Martin from Granbury
>How did you build the hinge? I have seen similar hinges in Shaker books, but never an explanation. Does it have a wooden dowel for the pin? Or metal? How is the pin secured? Is it possible to glue to (very carefully) to only one "side" of the hinge?
Thanks for you comments. Nice table!
The hinge details
jim_reed@marietta
>I copied the design for the hinge from something I saw in a book. Just made a prototype and fiddled with it until it worked. The fingers on the outboard piece have to be rounded so the whole piece will swivel. The hinge pin is a 1/4" walnut dowel. I drilled a hole through all parts except for the bottom finger. I drilled through only the top half of it and put a dab of glue in the hole.
Thanks Jim!
