Table completed

>This was a very satisfying two day project. Legs were milled from a dogwood log gift, dried for several years. Drawer was of antique spool chest origin from ebay. Secret drawer shown on floor. Black walnut wood used to complete. Thanks for viewing.

>Hi Jim,

That old spool drawer is fabulous, and you have put a very nice table together around it, using the gift dogwood. Your friend will be most pleased to see what came of the dogwood, and will be knocked over by that perfectly authentic drawer! The walnut top seems to blend really well with the drawer front.

That is a very nice table. How was the old dogwood log to work with? I've often wondered about recovered wood.

Milling dogwood

jim_reed@marietta

>I milled it on my Jet 14" bandsaw. Went thru a few blades and tore up the cheap plastic guides. Made a heck of a mess--bark and wet sawdust everywhere, esp on ME. Maybe 50 bf in all. It was my last raw wood experience because of the trouble and mess. If you ask me, clean, dry, s4s lumber is a bargain at any price!!!
