More knobs

>I got a couple more knobs this week. The first one came about monday or so I'm kinda late posting. It came wraped like a present and a pretty one it was see picture. I received a levercap drawer pull from Angus Barclay%Michael Adams I think it was a tag team king of deal. and the other one I got from Brad in Ottawa a true Canadian. It came in a nice box wraped in duct tape probably two rolls of the stuff. it was an abused old world marking gauge with the arm cut off. I'm thinking it will end op on one of the layout tool drawers. Brad clames to have gotten this over refinished tool at an auction with some other over refinished tools Brad they came from Jim and I got a couple plang planes from him I can tell by the over refinishing job he even used a pour filler on the planes to fill the checks in the ends of them. I hope to post pictures of the pulls next week but for now all you get is the pretty box.

>I thought Duct Tape was the universal wrapping paper!! I guess I watch too much Red Green.

That auction where I picked up that gauge made me cry. The auction was for a whole hand tool collection belonged to a husband and wife. 30 years ago they sent it to a "Conservator" who promptly sanded off all the finish on each plane, including maker's marks, and refinished them.

So many planes and so much carnage. Loose wedges and irons that would no longer bed properly.

As hungry as I am for old tools I only bought a lot of 7 Marking Gauges. Nobody else was going to bid on them and I waited until the auctioneer lowered his price to dirt cheap.

>That's not a lever cap, Ernie. Its a "Vintage finger plane, hand chisel". In fact, it is the very item featured on ebay recently.

I reckon its probably best used on a drawer full of junk and tool parts. Or you may wish to use it on a drawer for storing/hiding purchases you later regretted. Or you may wish to toss it in the nearest trash can!

Sorry it has no fixtures to allow you to attach it to a drawer, but a screw through the hole and a spacer behind should do the trick. Or you could screw it to the bench upside down (as pictured on ebay) and use the "trigger" as a stand-off to make room for fingers to grasp it.

>To cool I have the one and only 35 levercap chisel plane. I bet I could make a pull out of a wedding dress pull Now which one of you guys won that bid? Drawer for abused tools eh? then most any of my tools should feal at home.
