>I have been watching Ebay for a few years and selling for a few months. Is it just me or do I notice a real slow down in the old tool section lately? Has the quality of offered items dropped off some? People don't seem to be buying much either. Is it a seasonal phenomenon?

>Right now, it's what's called a "buyer's market". It's not just Ebay either. We, Swmbo and I, buy and sell at auctions a lot, including Ebay, and have noticed that people just aren't spending as much money. An item that would normally net 25 or 30 bucks, won't fetch 10 bucks now.

This is usually the time of year I pick up my best bargains as far as tools go.

There have been some great deals on eBay recently, but this doesn't offset that pricing generally has been stable. I don't know if you what your specific experience led you to your observation.

Spring is a slow time as people get out of hibernation and sometimes rust hunt locally. All that I can say is that items on my watch list seem to be getting fair market value! (If not I would have a lot of parcels to explain to my wife!)

>I sell alott on ebay, try to keep 20-40 items up at all times and i really don't see that much of a difference. Sure some things are down maybe but others are up , on the whole I think it is about the same that it has been for the past couple years. I have friends that tell me all the time how the tide is out on the 'Bay,[as one fellow puts it] but I just don't see it. I sell just about everything I put up. Stanley bench planes go pretty cheap I think and that is why i break them up for parts but I just got a while back almost $50 for a fairly common no.15 Block Plane,[was a nice plane] I try not to sell stuff that while maybe not rare isn't to common like a no.4 in very good condition and I really have no complaints at all for what most of my stuff goes for. I used to do antique and tool shows and I could never do them again even though i enjoyed them because I think my stuff sells for much more on ebay.

I don't buy off ebay except for an occasional piece of Norway Enamal Jewelery and i do know the price for it right now is up from what it was a couple months ago.......Todd
