Todd's Knob

Ernie Miller Topeka

>Well it arrived today with all the fanfair it deserves. Don't let any one say Todd don't think outside the box. It's not going on the bench that's it end of discussion. It will go on my sharpening station though. it is a dandy old ised up grinding stone that is wore in to a cone at first I thought it might be for sicle sections but it would need to be worn both directions for that. It is so used up that it is only 2 1/4" in diameter. and of a lovley corse red materal one simple bolt out of the last chance drawer and it is installed. Sorry Todd but I don't sharpen on my good bench so I won't be storing the stones there. Ha Todd O How close to Boca Ratan are you? I might be buying some tools and don't want to ship them all if you would send me the good stuff you could have the rest. I think you will have a better idea of what to ship than the seller.

>Ernie,

Glad that you like the knob and that it arrived safe and sound. Sure was fast since I just mailed it this past Monday afternoon. Feel free to use it any way you so choose. I knew that you'd know it was meant for the Sharpening Drawer as soon as you saw it. That stone came off of an old handcrank grinder that I bought at a flea market in Maryland several years ago. I have no idea where it was used, or what it was used for to get into that shape, but I thought that it would make a dandy knob for you. Make sure to mount the smaller diameter side facing the drawer front won't cha' now. ;~)

It is so used up that it is only 2 1/4" in diameter. and of a lovley corse red materal

Red?! It was gray when it left Florida. Suppose the forces from the supersonic speed of it's shipment changed it's color? ;~)

Boca Ratan?

Todd O. Cronkhite Native of Maine

>I have no idea where that is, but I'm thinking it is one of the Keys of Key West isn't it? Boca Raton perhaps. If so that would be a long, long drive to make. Double check the spelling and I'll try to find it on the map. Perhaps I am mistaken and it it is much closer. I'd be happy to help you Ernie if I can.

>Rat's Mouth is the original home of the Loxahatchee Tool Works. It's between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, and is about a five hour drive from Jacksonville, south on I-95. The only good good old tool deal I ever found there was on a jointer. Hopefully, Ernie will have a more gloatable tale to tell???

Mouse Mouth

Clay C in Miami

>Hi,

I'm within reasonable drive of Boca Raton - maybe 45 minutes, though there's a WC-er named Dennis who's even closer. I'd be more than happy to do it for you (in fact, I could pay Dennis a call while I'm up that way, he kindly extended an invite!)

(Plus, I feel sorta guilty because I also promised a knob, and haven't been able to get near the shop since I said it ...)

Let me know,

Clay

PS - My Spanish ex said 'rata' is rat, 'raton' is mouse - ? Certainly calling such a plushy neighborhood 'Rat Mouth' has an undeniable appeal.

Must be hell when you go to the beach, with your eyes all ruined an' all.

>Sorry Todd it's rats mouth any way another person has offered to step up and do the work if I can snag this box. It's dosne't look good and my helper might end up with it all as it might not be worth the postage to Kansas.
