What to do with a chromed plane?

Steven McKinley from Calgary

>I saw a plane listed on Ebay as "nickel" plated. Pictures looked to me like one of my fixeruppers after being sandblasted. I was going to fix it and then flip it on Ebay. I bid and won. When I finally receive it, it's actually chromed!!

I'm thinking a plating shop could remove it, but now I'm getting to the point where I won't see any profit on this puppy even if I do sell it on Ebay.

What would you do?

Steven

What size is it? Who's the marker? What type # is it? Corrigated or not?

What the heck, if you can afford to keep it than I'd keep it has a conversation piece if nothing else.

I wonder id it was some type of award at some time in it's life, you know like a retirement gift or something?

Smack it down dude ;-)

I bought a plane like that one time on Ebay. It was a butt morticing plane. Turns out it was an award to an East German worker from his co-workers before the wall came tumbling down.

Chrome plated C-channel sole plate with what looks like Beech knob and tote with a tapered iron about 1/4" thick by 1" wide at the business end. I'm a carpenter by trade and I use it all the time hanging doors. I don't have a hinge template for my "routah" and it's easy to tip or rout outside the lines with the tailed apprentice using it "freehand"

A couple of options...

>I really like the "paint flames on it" idea. Add one of those whale-tail spoilers that the kids have on their Hondas these days, get some 2" wheels with spiffy rims from a model shop and you're off to the races (tongue frimly in cheek).

One other option....Depending on it's size, donate it to the newly formed charity, "Help Ernie Pull Up His Draws" I can see it having a wonderful home there.

If you "trick it out", be sure to post some pics.

>WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Its a #7! I see a shave spittin' rail dragster! Chrome, flames, Mags, 496 with huge exhaust pipes, giant shift lever. Kinda a cross of a wild '70 Tom Daniels model kit and Big Daddy Roth's Rat Fink cartoons in the '70 Hot Rod magazines. We're talking WILD MACHINE here!! RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM
