A Mr. Lee question

Bill Tindall, E. TN

>In the Brent Beach article on plane irons and sharpening referenced in a post below he tested a Mujingfang plane iron from Lee Valley. It had a "HSS blade". Can you find out what HSS steel is used in this blade?

Myself and several others have been exploring the performance of various HSS steels for woodworking tools (as in intellectual curiosity, not to become a competitor to anyone. By now it should be obvious that I don't sell anyting except sheep). This information would add considerably to our knowledge. thankyou in advance

PS if the steel's name is not known or unknowable, with a sample of it I can determine what its name is.
